Financial Accountant - contractor (2 months)

TransferRoom is the market leader, which is why it’s used by 800+ clubs, including Man City, Liverpool and PSG, and 550 agencies globally. As of the 2025 summer transfer window, our platform has facilitated over 9500 transfers since launch in 2017.
💻 What we're looking for
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant Contractor to support a short-term 2 month data reconciliation project within a SaaS environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in linking financial transactions to customer order forms, ensuring data integrity across systems, and helping narrate each customer’s financial journey.
This position requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of SaaS financial metrics (particularly ARR vs. invoicing), and the ability to work independently with minimal instruction.
🎯 What you'll be doing
Financial Indexing:
- Identify, locate, and index all current order forms and contracts
- Organize and store documents in Google Drive by customer
- Cross-reference with extracts from Maxio to identify missing order forms, producing a “delta” report of found vs. missing items
Financial Storytelling & Reconciliation:
- Link transactions in Maxio to corresponding order forms
- Build a clear financial narrative for each customer, detailing:
- Payments, credits, and upgrades
- Contract start and end dates
- Periods covered by credit notes
- Ensure correct mapping of contracts for financial accuracy and reporting purposes
Transaction Classification:
- Categorize transactions as new business, renewal, or price increase using defined classification rules
- Maintain data accuracy and consistency for future uploads into Maxio
System Data Preparation:
- Produce an output file in Excel, properly formatted for system re-upload
- Ensure all records have accurate and unique contract IDs for migration
✅ Who you are
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in finance, data analysis, or accounting
- Experience within a SaaS business or accountancy firm supporting SaaS clients is essential
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, lookups, data cleaning, pivoting)
- Familiarity with Maxio (or similar financial systems) and Xero
- Strong grasp of ARR vs. invoice value concepts
- Understanding of credit note allocation, contract structures, and basic P&L and cash flow principles
